Role
v The CMC PPG’S clear role is to communicate, consult, share information and support Cheddar Medical Centre to support us, the patients, and to try and ensure a ‘good patient experience’ throughout the health and care system.
v The PPG will be transparent and open in all dealings.
v At a time when much has changed - and will continue to do so - in the NHS, the Somerset CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) and the requirements of CMC, the PPG has a unique role to gather, communicate and action patient views, concerns and requirements to decision makers by any means possible.
o Patient participation is a strong directive in all NHS England legislation and direction
How
v Encourage patients to be proactive; seek patient views from time to time and communicate and express views to the CMC, CCG, Cheddar community, etc. to influence health and care provision in Cheddar.
v Communication from patient to CMC and CMC to patient on a range of issues concerning health, wellbeing and care.
v Challenge and support service providers to improve service delivery.
v Action group for specific issues as required.
v Develop the PPG influence through best practice.
Structure and Process
v Not bureaucratic but effective.
v Chair and Vice Chair as prime focus and Secretary. Treasurer - not necessary.
v No restriction on the number of PPG members.
v General meetings held every three months shall be open to all members of the PPG.
v A core of 4/6 members who will act as direction finders/policy makers and who will meet in addition to the general meetings.
v PPG members form focus / action groups as needed.
